秋の焼尻島

しばらくぶりに森の中を散歩してみると、あちらこちらに真っ赤な実が目につきます。

秋になると、木々は一斉に赤い実をつけます。

これは、渡り鳥に食べてもらい、その種を遠くまで運んでもらうため。
木々は一生懸命、真っ赤な実をつけて、小鳥たちを呼び寄せようとしているのです。

ところが――

肝心の渡り鳥が、さっぱりやって来ません。

「こんなに赤い実をつけて待っているのに……」

木々の声が聞こえてきそうです。

もしどこかで野鳥を見つけた方がいましたら、どうか伝えてください。

「焼尻島の木々が、赤い実をたくさん用意して待っていますよ。
早く島へ渡ってきてください！」

Autumn on Yagishiri Island

After not having walked through the forest for a while, I was struck by the sight of bright red berries appearing here and there among the trees.

Each tree is working hard to produce these brilliant red fruits, hoping to attract migrating birds. The birds will eat the berries and carry the seeds far away, helping the trees spread and grow in new places.

But there is just one problem—

The migratory birds haven’t arrived yet!

If anyone happens to spot any wild birds, please tell them to hurry up and come over to Yagishiri Island.
