愛しきノラたち

花を探しながら島をのんびり歩いていると、
愛すべき島の仲間たちと出会います。

それは、島で暮らすノラ猫たちです。

ある日、自然公園を歩いていると、一匹のお母さん猫と三匹の子猫の家族に出会いました。
お母さんはどこかへ出かけていたのか、子猫たちは夢中でじゃれ合って遊んでいます。

人を警戒する様子もなく、私がそばを通っても気にすることなく遊び続ける姿に、島の穏やかな時間が感じられました。

さらに牧場へ向かうと、草むらの中から一匹のノラ猫が姿を現しました。
精悍な顔つきは、まるでヤマネコのようです。

人ものんびり、ノラ猫ものんびり。

そんな何気ない日常が、焼尻島らしい風景なのかもしれません。

Beloved Stray Cats of Yagishiri Island

As I wander around the island in search of wildflowers, I often meet some of Yagishiri’s most endearing residents—the island’s stray cats.

One day, while walking through the nature park, I came across a little feline family.
Their mother seemed to be away, while three playful kittens chased and tumbled after one another.

On this peaceful island, where few people would ever think of harming them, they paid no attention as I walked by, happily continuing their games.

A little farther on, near the pasture, another stray cat appeared in the grass.
With its sharp eyes and proud face, it looked almost like a wildcat.

On Yagishiri Island, people and stray cats share the same gentle rhythm of life.

Perhaps that is one of the island’s greatest charms.
