**焼尻島の野鳥

コムクドリ**

早朝から、外がにぎやかです。

眠い目をこすりながらカーテンを開けると、
電線にコムクドリがとまってさえずっています。
そのすぐ近くでは、ツツドリの声も聞こえてきます。

林の中からは、ウグイスやエゾセンニュウの歌声も響いてきます。

「はいはい、私も起きますよ」

そうつぶやきながら一日が始まります。

これからしばらくは、鳥たちに起こされる朝が続きそうです。

**Birds of Yagishiri Island

The Chestnut-cheeked Starling**

The world outside is lively from the early morning hours.

Rubbing the sleep from my eyes, I pull back the curtain and find a Chestnut-cheeked Starling singing from a power line.
Nearby, a Lesser Cuckoo is calling as well.

From the woods come the songs of the Japanese Bush Warbler and the Middendorff’s Grasshopper Warbler.

“All right, all right—I’m awake,” I find myself saying.

It looks as though early mornings will be a part of my daily routine from now on.
