**焼尻島にやってくる珍しい仲間たち

ツバメチドリ（Oriental Pratincole）**

ツバメチドリは、夏は中国やロシア南東部、ヒマラヤ山脈周辺で繁殖し、
冬になると東南アジアやオーストラリア北部へと渡っていきます。

その長い旅の途中で、何を思ったのか、焼尻島に立ち寄ってくれることがあります。これまでに二度、島で出会いましたが、
車で近づいても逃げることはなく、
むしろ鋭い目でこちらをじっとにらみ返してきました。

Oriental Pratincole**

The Oriental pratincole breeds in summer in places such as China, southeastern Russia,
and along the Himalayas.
In winter, it travels south to Southeast Asia and northern Australia.

For reasons known only to itself, it sometimes stops by Yakishiri Island along the way.
I have encountered it here twice.
Even when approached by car, it does not flee,
but instead fixes me with a sharp, almost intimidating stare.
